Interdisciplinary Research Group

INTERSEMIOTIC, TRANSLATION AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES (ITNT) is composed of researchers of the University of Valladolid belonging to different areas of knowledge among which Telematics Engineering, Spanish Language, General Linguistics, Signal Theory and Communications and Translation and Interpreting.

It has received the recognition as a  Recognised Research Group in the University of Valladolid and an Excellence Research Group of Castilla-Leon.

It consists of the aggregation of two research groups with different scientific backgrounds but witjh common and complementary aims: a part of General Intersemiotic researchers and other part of Telecommunication Engineers

Its main objective is promoting research on society codes of communication and the interaction of the linguistic and non-linguistic signs in the languages transfer process from an interdisciplinary perspective and with the support of new information and communication technologies as well as research on telematic systems supporting Translation and language and language access and their setting-up. Among the multiple assignments of this Group, the research focused on overcoming the barriers to communication of disabled  or elderly people.

This Research Group shows a great interest for taking part in development and interdisciplunary projects around the subjects of interest. As a guarantee of satisfactory participation in future actions, the Group has a wealth of experience in the development of international projects in the framework of programmes and initiatives such as EUMEDIS, ADAPT and SOCRATES, in addition to other national or regional programmes. It also has the infrastructure and enough material resources to carry out  its work and with the institutional support of its University which recogises it as a research group. Furthermore, it keeps its own service of communication and translation to companies, Institutions and individuals.

The languages they work with: French, English and German, and also the Spanish Sign Language (LSE) let it undertake with guarantee a development of research on communication at acomprehensive international level.

 ITAST Subgroup

Infrastructures, Technologies, Applications and Telecommunication Services (ITAST) is a research group formed by members of the Signal Theory and Communications and Telematics Engineering department which has its head office in the Telecommunication Engineering Technical School inValladolid. 
They give a technological vision to the activity of the interdiscipllnary group ITNT and develop the research guidelines and the most related to technology aspects of the proyects 

The main guideline of this group is e-learning and the new ways of interaction between agents of the  educational process, but there are other important aspects of scientific and technical experience in the fields of QoS Telematics, geographical information systems, development of telematic systems and applications and, of course, e-learning..
